Safe & Fuel Efficient Driving Instructor Courses

What Is It?

The Safe and Fuel-Efficient Driving programme was designed by a consortium of leading industry specialists to help drivers of vans, LGVs and PCV’s improve their safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques.

The Course

This is a 2 day course and can be run for up to 2 people either at our training centre in Devizes or on your company's site. We would recommend that you use your own usual vehicle as it allows us to tailor the training to you and the vehicle. However, if this is not possible, we will arrange for a vehicle to be available for you on the day of your training.

Day 1:
Day 1 will be in-cab driving to cover the practical side of the training.

  • Understanding the benefits of driving fuel efficiently.
  • Safe driving behaviour.
  • Drivers responsibility for daily checks.
  • Maintenance and daily checks.
  • Efficient route planning.
  • Assessing driving and feedback using Telematics.
  • Corrective tuition as required.

Day 2:
Day 2 will be carried out in a classroom for the theoretical side of the training.

  • Instructional techniques.
  • The role of the Instructor in cab.
  • Fuel monitoring systems.
  • Route selection and direction.
  • Licences and eyesight checks.
  • Report writing.

What our customers are saying...

"Positive Results!"

The SAFED Instructor course gave me the tools to be able to confidently deliver the SAFED Initial and Refresher course to Cat C and Cat C+E drivers in line with the requirements of JAUPT. Prior to the course I did not have an understanding of SAFED or its principals so it was a real eye opener. As a reasonably inexperienced professional driver myself it has certainly improved my skills and knowledge through both classroom and practical sessions. I am now confident training driver’s with far more years’ experience behind the wheel than me, with positive results. It is possible to change an experienced drivers behaviour to include new technology.
