Driving Goods Vehicles Apprenticeship

Duration: Approx 12 months.

Entry Requirements:

Candidates aged 16-18 are fully funded. Funding for 19+ is more limited, please contact us for details.

Candidates cannot be on any other funded scheme and should ideally be employed or sponsored by a company in the transport industry.

Objectives:

Candidates can gain their LGV Cat C licence alongside a Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles,  a Level 2 BTEC in Carry & Deliver Goods and literacy/numeracy qualifications (if required).

Successful candidates will leave the scheme having the required skills to operate in an efficient manner whilst carrying out the responsibilities of a modern commercail driver.

Content:

The scheme will involve building an individual Learning Plan for each candidate to ensure they receive the maximum benefit from their time as an apprentice.

A programme that involves theoretical and practical input both at work and at our centre is agreed by provider, employer and candidate.

Regular reviews are held to ensure all parties are aware of progress and additional support is provided where required.

An apprenticeship comprises elements that ensure that upon completion the candidate can function competantly within their chosen vocation. In the case of Driving Goods Vehicles the elements include:

  • Numeracy & Literacy Certificates (subject to GCSE results)
  • Technical certificate
  • Theory & Hazard perception test.
  • New theoretical and practical test modules
