NVQ Level 2 & 3 Driving Goods Vehicles

Duration: Approx 6 months.

Entry Requirements:

Any qualified person working as an LGV driver.

Objectives:

To gain a National Vocational Qualification in Driving Goods Vehicles.  NVQs are a measure of competence and skills level.  They are delivered and assessed in the work place.


Content:

The candidate is requires to complete all mandatory level 2 units or 8 mandatory and 2 optional level 3 units:

Mandatory Units:

  • L2&3 - monitoring the loading of the vehicle by others
  • L2&3 - completing pre driving prepartions
  • L2&3 - maintaining the safety and security of the load, self and property
  • L2&3 - maintaining awareness of driving conditions
  • L2&3 - operating vehicle systems
  • L2 - driving the vehicle on public roads
  • L2&3 - driving the vehicle in restricted spaces
  • L3 - unloading the vehicle
  • L3 - driving the vehicle safely and effiiciently on public roads

Optional Units:

  • L2 - unloading the vehicle
  • L2&3 - coupling and uncoupling the vehicle
  • L3 - obtaining information on the delivery and collection of loads
  • L3 - planning the route and tmings for the delivery and collection of loads
  • L3 - loading the vehicle
